I did a bunch of "Ebru" prints and this is a portion of one translated to watercolor. Ebru is a Turkish invention, mostly used in the old days for legal document. Now you may still see some as the inside front and back pages in an old book.
Vickie started painting at a very early age, using her milk from dinner to wet her Prang watercolors. Boy, did she get into trouble! Things got better when she got older and took classes from her mentor, Tom Fong. He was instrumental in her using larger brushes and her becoming freer in her painting. After graduating with a teaching degree (in mathematics, not art), she taught at Hawthorne High in Southern California. When Tom decided to retire from Hughes Aircraft and not make the commute to El Segundo, Vickie took over his class at the Joslyn Center in El Segundo. She has been teaching there since 1993.
