About Vickie Myers
Vickie started painting at a very early age, using her milk from dinner to wet her Prang watercolors. Boy, did she get into trouble! Things got better when she got older and took classes from her mentor, Tom Fong. He was instrumental in her using larger brushes and her becoming freer in her painting. After graduating with a teaching degree (in mathematics, not art), she taught at Hawthorne High in Southern California. When Tom decided to retire from Hughes Aircraft and not make the commute to El Segundo, Vickie took over his class at the Joslyn Center in El Segundo. She was teaching there since 1993. Vickie has retired in March 2015.
Vickie exhibits in many local shows and has won quite a few awards and several 'Best of Show' awards. She is the current president of the Pacific Artist Guild. But her real love is teaching and pushing her students outside their comfort levels.
Take a look at her art here, and you will see she paints in a variety of subjects and styles. Her personal favorite subjects are her seven grandchildren
